The Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation Commits $80,000 to Bring Brand-New Sports Equipment to kids in Florida and Oklahoma

The Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation today announced it has teamed up with Good Sports, a national nonprofit dedicated to removing cost barriers to youth sports, in an $80,000 effort to provide brand-new sports equipment, apparel, and footwear to youth programs in Tampa Bay, Central Florida, and Oklahoma.

The commitment is part of the Foundation’s BE Strong pillar, which centers on youth engagement through after-school athletics and supports programs that build physical activity, teamwork, discipline, and confidence. Rooted in the belief that sports are one of the most powerful tools for shaping young lives, the gift will help ensure cost is never the reason a child sits on the sidelines, expanding access across a wide range of sports.

“Growing up, I saw firsthand how much sports can shape a kid’s life, the discipline, the teamwork, the confidence you build on a field or on a court. But none of that matters if a kid doesn’t have the equipment to show up and play,” stated Baker Mayfield. “No child should be left on the sidelines because their family can’t afford a helmet or a pair of pads. That’s why Emily and I are so committed to making sure every kid who wants to compete gets the chance to.”

When programs have quality gear, coaches can serve more athletes, families face fewer out-of-pocket costs, and kids can show up with the confidence to learn, compete, and belong. Good Sports has delivered more than $139 million in brand-new equipment to over 11 million children nationwide, working alongside schools, community organizations, and leading sporting goods brands to reach communities with the highest need.

“We are thrilled to be partnering with the Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation: two people who genuinely believe in the power of sports to shape young lives. This is going to open real doors for kids in communities where access to quality gear can make all the difference,” said Good Sports’ co-founder and President, Christy Keswick. “At Good Sports, we know that when kids get to play, they thrive. We are excited to bring that to even more young people alongside a foundation that shares that vision wholeheartedly.”

Equipment funded by the Foundation’s gift will reach youth programs across Tampa Bay, Central Florida, and Oklahoma, covering a wide range of sports and helping more children get in the game and stay there.
