The Baker & Emily Mayfield Foundation launched the BE Resilient Walk-On Scholarship in 2025 to recognize and support the dedication, perseverance, and heart of walk-on student-athletes.

This scholarship honors the underdog spirit — the drive to show up, work hard, and rise to the occasion without the promise of recognition.

Each year, two $10,000 scholarships will be awarded to currently enrolled sophomores, juniors, seniors, or graduate students who are active walk-on athletes at their university.

  • College sophomores, juniors, seniors and graduate students who meet the following requirements:


    • Must be a citizen or legal resident of the United States
    • Must be a rostered athlete on a varsity team, confirmed by their coach
    • Must be receiving $5,000 or less in athletic aid
    • Must be maintaining the academic eligibility requirements of the university and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress.

    Two (2) $10,000 awards each, renewable for up to three (3) additional years so long as an awardee remains enrolled at the same university and maintains the academic eligibility requirements of their university
